Triple Chocolate Imperial Stout, 12.2% (Collab with @dutchbargain )
Our first ever international home collaboration is nearly ready for release! A huge imperial stout double mashed with large amounts of crystal, chocolate and black malts for a intensly rich malt back bone.
We added cacao powder to the second mash to start layering in those rich chocolate notes. We then boiled it for 3 hours to give this beer a thick smooth body and mouthfeel. We then added even more cacao powder in the whirlpool adding even more chocolatey goodness.
Fermented with old English yeast, and conditioned on? You guessed it, more cacao! 30kg of cacao nibs were added in the fermenter to really round off those chocolate flavours. We may have even squirreled some away in maple syrup barrels, if you can be patient for 16-18 months (it's difficult I know), it will be worth it!
